Wooden Legs Brewing Company Charter
Vision:
  • To introduce the community, region, and all visitors to the enjoyment of drinking beer for the taste.
  • To create an environment that leaves visitors more inclined to seek out and share ideas with long-time friends, new acquaintances, and everyone in between.
Mission:
  • To produce consistent, quality hand-crafted beers across the spectrum of style and flavor, to include reproduction of classic recipes and the exploration of new, creative and adventurous malt beverages.
  • To create a relaxing atmosphere where patrons feel free to share thoughts and ideas with friends, colleagues, and new acquaintances over great beer.

Company Objectives:

  1. Create a line of beers that patrons enjoy so much they consistently select them over mainstream and other craft beers.
    1. Educate patrons about the brewing process and about beers in general so as to add to their beer enjoyment experience.
    2. Establish a flagship line of beers that are both flavorful and consistent, so patrons can discover their “usual” when they come to Wooden Legs Brewing Company.
    3. Establish a seasonal line of beers that are both flavorful and unique, which makes patrons expectant for their return.
    4. Consistently introduce new beers that span the range of flavor, intensity, novelty, and practicality so that patrons have the ability to discover something new each time they visit Wooden Legs Brewing Company.
  2. Provide a venue that patrons specifically seek out because the atmosphere is both comfortable and welcoming.

    1. Provide “Brew U” sessions to encourage new home brewers
    2. Serve as the subject matter expert on beer and the brewing process
    3. Sponsor regional home brew clubs and groups
    4. Gain regional and national recognition of house brews
  4. Prepare and serve food that accompanies beer well.
    1. Incorporate the beer enjoyment experience in the meal and menu through recommendations from a well-informed wait staff.
    2. Prepare and serve delicious food at a fair price.  
  5. Improve the lives and well-being of all Wooden Legs Brewing Company employees.
    1. Create good-paying jobs that employees look forward to doing.
    2. Educate every WLBC employee on the brewing process and beer in general, and enable them to become subject matter experts on WLBC beers.
    3. Provide growth opportunities through measurable performance goals.

  6. Contribute to the Brookings community and greater South Dakota with both energies and resources.
    1. After repayment of all loans, 10% of all Wooden Legs Brewing Company profit will go to local, regional, and state charities, funds, and projects.
    2. Build strong and lasting ties with SDSU.
    3. Maintain an active role in the downtown business group to promote growth, development and expansion.
